If you’re anything like me you may feel a little stuck.
I really want to have all the things the internet says I can have – make passive income online and grow an online business/blog. I have been thinking about this forever while also doing absolutely NOTHING to make that a reality. I’ve been chasing the dream, rather than working for it. And to be honest, I knew that.
Honestly, I feel overwhelmed at the thought of growing this blog, having to write every day, post on social media and try to grow my audience. Especially when it feels like it takes so much time and energy for no reward ie: two views, zero comments and no growth. This is why I have never been consistent at growing this blog since I signed up and created it more than 3 years ago.
I feel like I don’t know what to do, where to start or how to get any traction online. Since I feel so overwhelmed, I take no action and I’m paralyzed. As a result, here I am three (almost four [OMG]) years later and here I am. I have this blog which looks okay but doesn’t have an audience or engagement. I have no regular content and the thought of opening WordPress to write a blog post still leaves me frozen.
I have so many thoughts and ideas flowing in and out of my mind. I’m constantly open to learning about different things. I sign up for webinars, read about other peoples success and sign up to mailing lists for tips. I’m trying to hone into my passions and what I’m good at and I’m still left directionless. I think about blogging, travel, photography, investing and read self-development books.
My mind is like my computer, I constantly have 30 tabs open all running at the same time without the ability to focus on one thing and master it before moving on. This must be why I haven’t had success in anything as yet. I don’t focus and spend the time mastering anything before moving on to something else that interests me. There are so many things I want to learn that I try to learn a little bit of a lot of things leaving me as an expert in nothing. What’s that saying? “Jack of all trades and master of none.” Yeah, that’s me.
Ugh. How can I be 30 and still not know what I want to do or what direction to go or have a clear career path?!?! Am I the only one???
I’ve always been jealous of my friends who have clear career paths – like my sister who went to school for nursing and is now a nurse, my friends who went to school for design and actually work as designers, people who took business and are working in their field.
I find a bit of solace thinking about that post about all the old people who found success… You know the one that talks about people who were old when they found success and the main point is it’s never too late for you to be successful. Oh here’s the link: https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/ages-famous-people-got-big-break-facebook-status_uk_5721f18ee4b0a1e971cb20f6?guce_referrer_us=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmZpLw&guce_referrer_cs=r0ABN7d-MHTKvj9k9RzhBA
Phew..okay…just because I’m 30 doesn’t mean that I’m a failure. I have time, I can do this. It’s never too late to start. As long as I’m breathing, I still have time.
All of this to say, that I have decided that I will take action to create change for the next 365 days, I will create and publish something every day. It can be a blog post, a video, an edited photo, a story, a design. I will CREATE something every day and I will publish it every day on this blog. Because I believe that consistency is the key to success and that accountability is the key to being consistent. If you’ve been feeling stuck and want to join me on this journey, please do! Let’s use the hashtag #ELE365 (EatLoveExplore365). You may not want to be a blogger, but you can and should do something to get you closer to your goal every day. We must take action to create change. This can be your day 1 as well.
Even though this is probably day 1013 of this blog being online, this is my Day 1.
I will follow through and do this starting today. With this post.
If you made it this far, thanks for reading and drop a comment below if you’ve ever felt stuck or if you have any tips for me! Thanks!
